Qualification Criteria for Editorial Board Members

1 Academic Requirements

  • Holders of a Ph.D. or DBA in a relevant field, with at least two publications in SSCI/SCOPUS/KCI-listed journals within the past five years.
  • Researchers with experience in sales, sales management, industrial marketing, customer experience, sales education, or sales analytics (AI · Data Sales Tech, etc.).

2 Professional / Applied Expertise

  • Professionals with at least 10 years of leadership and field experience in global sales organizations, B2B companies, consulting firms, or educational institutions.
  • Practical-track editors must provide evidence of academic collaboration (industry–academia papers, conference presentations, etc.) or concurrent research/teaching activities.

3 Ethics and Scholarly Reputation

  • No history of research ethics violations (plagiarism, data fabrication, improper authorship, etc.) in accordance with COPE standards.
  • Must be able to make independent judgments and remain free from publishing, sponsorship, or financial conflicts of interest.
  • May serve on the boards of other journals or academic societies, but must give priority to JSSS-related duties.

4 International Diversity

  • At least 40% of the editorial board must consist of members affiliated with institutions outside Korea.
  • Diversity in continent representation (Asia · Europe · Americas), and balanced representation of industry, public sector, and academia must be considered.

Appointment Procedures and Terms

Nomination

  • Candidates may be recommended by current board members, academic societies, or the Publication Committee.
  • Research achievements, academic credibility, and alignment with JSSS's thematic scope are reviewed.

Verification Process

  • Candidates must submit a CV, publication list, and a Conflict of Interest declaration.
  • The Editor-in-Chief conducts the first review, followed by final approval from the Publication Committee.

Appointment and Term

  • Standard term is two years, renewable at least once subject to performance (maximum six years).
  • In the case of resignation or dismissal, successors complete the remaining term.

Evaluation and Renewal

An annual "Editorial Board Activity Report" is issued. Renewal decisions are based on:

  • At least 70% review participation
  • Attendance at meetings
  • Manuscript recommendations
  • Compliance with ethics
  • Contribution to journal development

Roles & Responsibilities of Editorial Board Members

JSSS's Editorial Board is not merely an administrative review body but a leadership entity responsible for the journal's academic direction, quality assurance, and global standing.

Editor-in-Chief

  • Establishes and approves journal vision, strategy, and editorial policies.
  • Holds final authority over publication decisions.
  • Nominates Associate Editors and board members; chairs editorial meetings.
  • Initiates investigations and makes final decisions regarding ethical issues.
  • Leads global indexing efforts (Scopus, WOS, COPE).

Estimated workload: 100–120 hours/year

Strategy & quality: 40% | External collaboration: 30% | Review: 20% | Admin: 10%

Associate Editors

  • Oversee designated domains (AI Sales Tech, Industrial Marketing, Leadership, B2B Relations, etc.).
  • Assign reviewers upon manuscript submission, collect and evaluate review results.
  • Conduct quality assessment (QA) and recommend improvements.
  • Lead Special Issues or thematic collections.

Estimated workload: 60–80 hours/year

Editorial Board Members

  • Review 2–4 manuscripts per year (3–4 hours per manuscript).
  • Recommend submissions from early-career researchers and industry professionals.
  • Promote JSSS and recruit submissions at seminars and conferences.
  • Advise on ethics, data policy, and indexing initiatives.

Estimated workload: ~40 hours/year

Advisory Board

  • Provide counsel on long-term strategy, global collaboration, and industry–academic linkage.
  • No formal reviewing obligation, but contribute to international visibility through networks.

Estimated workload: 20–30 hours/year

JSSS operates as a non-profit academic journal; recognition focuses on professional honor and scholarly contribution, supported by practical incentives.

High-performing editors receive automatic renewal and priority consideration for Associate Editor roles.

Ethics & Conflict of Interest Management

Editors must immediately report any conflict of interest regarding submitted manuscripts.

  • Financial or advisory relationships

Important:

JSSS requires all editors to submit an Annual Ethics Declaration. Concealment of conflicts results in immediate suspension or dismissal.

JSSS operates its editorial and ethical management based on COPE's Core Practices.

Succession & Sustainability
  • Approximately 20% of the board is refreshed annually to ensure generational continuity.
  • Early-career scholars (postdocs, early-stage researchers) may serve as Associate Editorial Trainees, becoming full board members after one year.
  • When the Editor-in-Chief is replaced, an Associate Editor serves a six-month transitional role until formally approved by the Publication Committee.
